INTESA
The Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea was one of the beneficiaries of the project “INTESA – Improving Maritime Transport Efficiency and Safety in the Adriatic” co-financed by the Italy – Croatia CBC Programme 2014 – 2020 Interreg V A.
Project Objective
The aim of INTESA was to harmonize and optimize the procedures of the complete maritime transport process in order to make port and maritime transport system more efficient and safe
INTESA considered all the phases of maritime transport – deepsea traffic, entrance/exit in port, berth and gate in/gate out – addressing specific issues that limit the efficiency of logistic and transport processes both on land and sea side, in particular through the development of innovative ICT tools aimed at increasing navigation safety.
Within INTESA, the Port of Trieste improved the management of natural harbour through ICT systems, optimising the safety and security monitoring as well as streamlining transport flows. Also, it integrated its Port Community System (Synfomar) with the VTS interacting directly with the Italian Coast Guard.
